Creekside Called ‘Epitome Of Public Housing'
MOUNT HOLLY-The Elizabeth Haddon Creekside Development in Medford recently was nominated by the Burlington County Office of Community Development for an award to the New Jersey Community Development Association. The 32-unit family rental apartment complex was built last year by the Ingerman Group on property owned by the adjacent Medford Leas continuing care facility on Route 70.
Creekside is a combination of two and three bedroom units with first floor handicap-accessible apartments and some units designed for the visually impaired. The project was developed to assist the township in meeting its Council On Affordable Housing (COAH) requirements.
Brad Ingerman of the Ingerman Group worked with representatives of the county Office of Community Development, Medford Leas and the township to overcome issues with historic preservation, Pinelands preservation, design and finances.
Creekside was completed within six months of ground-breaking and was financed by the state Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, the Medford Housing Trust Fund, a deferred HOME Program developer loan and a long-term loan from the state Department of Community Affairs. “We are confident that nominating the Creekside development project will more than satisfy the requirements for recognition as an Award of Excellence in Community Service”, said Freeholder Deputy Director Joseph B. Donnelly.
“This project is the epitome of public housing in the 21st century-affordable, convenient and aesthetically pleasing with flexible uses. Creekside is the culmination of a partnership at all levels and a project everyone can and should be proud of”, Donnelly concluded.
